The Centre for the Promotion & Protection of Human Rights
is a concern of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in Sri Lanka.
The Society of Jesus is engaged in various social activities
among the marginalized and the poor in the Districts of
Galle, Colombo, Kandy, Hatton, Deraniyagala, Batticaloa,
Trincomalee, Vanny and Mannar. The situation and needs of
the people living in these areas are varied. The Jesuits
take into consideration the varied needs and expectation and
involve themselves in a meaningful manner, orienting
themselves in specific services as the situation calls for.
For the Greater Glory of God at the service of mankind,
Jesuits engage themselves in a participatory process of
involvement with the beneficiaries in all their activities.
The Mission & Vision of the Centre for the Promotion &
protection of Human Rights can be expressed in a simple way
as follows:
The
vision of the Centre is
To build the society on a solid foundation of human dignity
& respect where justice is never denied or delayed, equality
acknowledged and equal opportunity afforded, rights of
everyone is recognized.
Be yourself and let the other be his/herself
Thus the
mission unfolds
To be the voice of the voiceless people
To uphold human dignity & respect
To be a source of strength to the marginalized & the poor
To accompany the hapless in their journey of life
To serve and not to be served |
